Idrus Wurrkgidj
Idrus Wurrkgidj is an Aboriginal artist from West Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory, an area known for its rich cultural heritage and long-standing artistic traditions.
Growing up on Country, Idrus learned the stories, knowledge and creative practices that have been passed down through generations. His artwork reflects the strong relationship between Aboriginal people and the land, often depicting animals, bush foods and elements of Country that hold cultural significance.
Inspired by the traditional painting styles of Arnhem Land, Idrus creates detailed works that honour the knowledge and stories of his ancestors. Each painting is a continuation of an ancient storytelling tradition, sharing aspects of culture, Country and everyday life in Arnhem Land.
